How to replace buttons with studs

how to replace buttons with studs, fashion diy

Little details make the difference, they can add a subtle edgy touch to plain shirts. There are small and easy changes you can make to your garments to give them quickly a trendy look. After making metal tips out of jar lids, today I would like to share with you another quick refashion and here's how I replaced classic shirt buttons with studs. These are in fact beads more than studs, they are pierced from side to side and can be sewed on garments. They are beads with the shape of studs.

You'll need:
  • a shirt
  • scissor
  • needle and thread
  • bead studs

Cut off the shirt buttons.

Pick studs comparable with the size of your buttons.

Start sewing on the stud. Keep the thread loose. You have to be able to move the stud a little bit. It doesn't have to be stuck on fabric or it won't work well as a button.

Wrap the thread around the stud a few times and then knot it on the back. Replace all the buttons and you'll have successfully updated your shirt to the current trends!
