It's Monday again. You're at work with plenty of things to do, but with an eye outside the window. The weather is getting warmer and as the sun enlightens your workspace you're already picturing yourself on vacation. Big sunglasses and big smile, a floaty maxi dress and nothing to do but relax. Wait, what shoes are you planning to wear? If you've been too busy to check out some gorgeous spring shoes let me show you a few exciting pairs with something in common: gold details. I'm particularly taken by the designs with the metal plated heel. Sergio Rossi's shoes have a lot of things going on, colors, patterns and the gold plated heel, but all the elements work well together, they are an outstanding pair of shoes in my opinion. Zanotti never ceases to amaze and if you were tired of seeing studs everywhere (because they've been so popular for a couple of years now) well, you may change your mind watching Tom Ford's  "porcupine" studded wedges. They're awesome.

My crush on holographic fabrics started with that incredible Mario Schwab jacket above. I never found a fabric similar to that one that was suitable for clothing. All I could find was hologram lycra that is for stage dresses. Hologram was too flashy, not credible for day wear use.
What's new is that now hologram broke into high fashion scene. It's attractive for its surprising rainbow reflections and many spring collections feature hologram accessories. We go from gentle watery reflections on ladylike dresses to more aggressive futuristic looks. Hologram accessories are a season must haves also for high street shops like forever 21 and Urban outfitters already filled their shelves with holographic goods.

Would you wear hologram clothes in public or you'll leave them to ice skate shows?

Il mio primo avvistamento di una stampa olografica è stata la giacca di Mario Schwab. Inutile dire che non ho mai trovato una stoffa simile che fosse adatta all'abbigliamento ma solo lycra olografica adatta ad abiti di scena come gare di ballo o sul ghiaccio. La verità è che la stampa olografica non era giudicata credibile come stoffa per tutti i giorni perchè troppo vistosa. Tutto è cambiato ora che ha fatto il suo ingresso nell'alta moda. Molte collezioni primaverili propongono accessori dai bagliori cangianti. Si va da riflessi d'acqua più delicati a look più aggressivi d'ispirazione fantascientifica. Cederete all'acquisto di un accessorio arcobaleno o lo lasciate volentieri alle pattinatrici sul ghiaccio?

Troppo spesso troviamo nei negozi abiti leggeri e smanicati durante la stagione invernale, fatti per le fan del layering (dai su si chiama look a cipolla) ma inadatti al grande freddo. Quest'inverno invece la moda scegli il maglione come capo d'elezione e finalmente stile e comfort vanno a braccetto.

Horizontal ones are only for self-confident girls because they widen the body, much more loved are vertical ones for their slimming effect: stripes are back on trend with no half measures, just black and white. Like any other pattern stripes work well with solid colors, flashy or not. Spring trends want stripes paired with black and white for a clean, minimalistic total look. Wear stripes with confidence. New designs are smart and make the figure look slimmer like the Stella Mccartney dress or H&M striped one. Try also the new chic sporty look with the stripes that go across the arm and legs.

Solo per donne sicure di sè quelle orizzontali perchè "allargano", più ben viste quelle verticali perchè invece allungano, le righe tornano di gran moda in primavera e senza mezze misure le righe bianche si alternano a quelle nere. Per un abbinamento riuscito valgono le stesse regole delle altre stampe, le righe si sposano bene con la tinta unita, che sia un colore acceso oppure no. Le tendenze di stagione le vogliono abbinate  ad un total look bianco e nero da movimentare con qualche accento di colore degli accessori. Indossate pure le righe con sicurezza, l'alternanza del bianco e nero è strategica e diventa complice di bellezza rendendo la figura più sottile come nell'abito di Stella McCartney o di H&M oppure evoca lo sportwear con le linee verticali che corrono sul lato del braccio o della gamba per un look essenziale e minimale.

Since we don't read minds it's hard to figure out what they may like. Researches tell that they wish to receive useful things but I still want to find something appealing to the eye so I look for the surprise factor.

These are my rules to find a gift for a man.

Investigate his interests.
Find a mysterious item, what it does must be not immediately clear, better if it looks like something else.
Must be something he wants to show to his friends.

When you do it right the reaction should be like this, let's take for example the pick punch.
He:  -What is this? (with curiosity)
       -Did you get me a stapler? (with disappointment)
You: -It's a pick punch, you can make you custom guitar picks out of everything.
He:  -No, I can't believe it, that's too cool!

Cosa regalare a lui quest'anno? Quel 'lui' racchiude il nocciolo del problema e cioè trovare il  regalo giusto per tutti gli uomini nella vostra vita, padre, fidanzato e amici. Biologicamente avversi allo shopping loro non parleranno mai di quel paio di scarpe che devono avere a tutti i costi né vi faranno intuire i loro desideri indicando qualcosa nelle vetrine. Non fatevi ingannare dalla loro richiesta di non ben definiti "regali utili" , cercate invece di stupirli con un oggetto inaspettato. Ma come si costruisce l'effetto sorpresa?

Indagate sui suoi interessi e trovate un gadget misterioso che riveli la sua funzione solo ad uno sguardo più attento. Se è un musicista il regalo per lui è la "stampa plettri", sembra una banale cucitrice ma al primo click si rivelerà un gadget irresistibile. L'appassionato di tecnologia apprezzerà i gemelli usb. Servirà il vino sempre alla temperatura giusta con il termometro adatto e farà foto pro anche con il cellulare  con le lenti aggiuntive per iphone Come capirete se il regalo è stato gradito? Beh vorrà mostrarlo agli amici.

Most of the clothes I see on the streets can be classified in a single category: casual. Today casual style goes beyond everyday wear, clothes like jeans are accepted also in formal events. We can affirm that comfortable casual clothes are preferred in almost any situation. Many times I desidered to wear a really elegant dress but the truth is there aren't many chances to do it. Why don't we create them? Stop shopping for prom dresses and cocktail dresses for ceremonies, why can't be an event you organized the special occasion to wear them?
I think that the holiday season is the perfect chance to invite your friends over for an elegant dinner.
You don't need to spend a lot of money, it only takes some time and creativity to organize the evening.
Plan the menu, choose the appropriate music and send invitation cards on facebook with the dress code of the evening. A theme party is a fun way get your friends actively involved! Last year I diy-ed bow ties for the boys and a strand of pearls for the girls, suddently the party was more stylish and they all liked their accessories.

Gli abiti che vediamo in città rientrano quasi tutti in una categoria, il casual. Oggi  casual non è più solo l'abbigliamento per il giorno, un capo come il jeans è accettato anche in contesti formali. Si può dire che, anche in nome della comodità, oggi lo stile casual sia adottato quasi in ogni occasione. Tante volte magari avremmo voluto scegliere un capo più ricercato ma la verità è non ci sono mai le occasioni per indossarli. Perchè allora non inventarle? Basta conservare gli abiti eleganti per le cerimonie, non può essere un evento organizzato da voi l'occasione speciale per indossarli?

 Il periodo delle festività natalizie è l'occasione perfetta per invitare gli amici a cena o per un aperitivo e la casa addobbata sarà il contesto perfetto per una serata elegante.

Non c'è bisogno di chissà quali costosi allestimenti basta un po' di creatività e di pianificazione. Scegliete il menu e la musica adatta e apparecchiate la tavola con cura. Preparate un biglietto d'invito da spedire su facebook agli amici e indicate il dress code della serata. Trovare il tema della festa è un modo divertente per coinvolgere attivamente gli invitati. Per una sera tutti eleganti, a questo punto non vi resta che scegliere l'abito da indossare.

The sequin beret can take you from day to night. The turban is a nice alternative to the classic beanie.
If you still didn't have enough of studs this studded cap is your cup of tea (DIY it?).

Now that temperatures go low it's time to get a nice hat for the city. Stylish and wearable.

What to Wear Wednesday: Parkas

I've never worn olive green or sporty coats. Since I wasn't going hunting or fishing I felt like I didn't need any of those functional coats with a lot of pockets or camouflage patterns. Not that I'm changing my habits, I still don't need to disguise between the trees but I'm reconsidering army green. These coats look super comfortable and warm with synthetic fur lining.

Parkas along with checked shirts and ripped jeans are having a moment. The deliberately messy style  that Grunge promoted is back on the streets even if maybe without the rebellion against the pop culture that it represented in the 90s.

How will you wear parkas? With a polished look or with messy hair like a 90's girl?


Per me le giacche verdi e piene di tasche erano relegate al guardaroba maschile per attività quali la caccia e la pesca. Francamente non ho mai considerato di indossare il verde bottiglia. Non mi dedicherò certo a nessuna di queste attività ma potrei riconsiderare le mie posizioni e fare un'eccezione per questi parka dall'aspetto caldo e confortevole. 
Parka e giacche militari indossati con camicie a scacchi e jeans strappati sono capi simbolo dello stile deliberatamente trasandato del grunge anni 90. Uno stile che oggi viene riscoperto e diventa trend di stagione (anche se forse svuotato del suo significato di ribellione contro la cultura pop).
