I made this necklace putting the neon and the rope trend together. I wanted to make a fun statement necklace so I added a little something: the glowing effect so my necklace lights up at night. The rope I bought for this project is very beautiful: shiny and silky. In order to keep this effect I painted only one side of the rope with glowing paint so the necklace is the double faced. I can wear the white side during the day, turn it and wear the yellow side at an happy hour with friends and see it glowing during the evening, basically it's 3 necklaces in one.

Ho realizzato questa collana ispirandomi al trend neon e aggiungendoci un elemento in più: una vernice fosforescente che illumina la collana di notte. Siccome la corda con la quale l'ho realizzata è lucida e setosa ho deciso di dipingere la collana solo da un lato ottendo un accessorio double-face. Potrei indossare la collana bianca durante il giorno, girarla dal lato giallo per l'aperitivo e vederla accendersi man mano che la giornata volge alla sera. Che ne dite? Vi piace?

Homemade coconut body butter recipe

Today I would like to share with you a quick beauty recipe to make a very good body butter. I discovered it a while ago and I've been a fan ever since. It's cheap, organic and biological because it's made just with water and dry coconut, it's quick because it takes only 5 minutes to make it and it's coconut scented (I love the scent of coconut). I use it everyday as hand cream and lip balm. It makes hands really soft. I suggest you to try it, you're gonna love it!

Oggi vorrei condividere con voi una veloce ricetta di bellezza per realizzare in casa un ottimo burro per il corpo. Il burro che otterrete è economico e biologico perchè costituito da farina di cocco ed acqua, è veloce perchè si realizza in 5 minuti, in più profuma di cocco. Io lo uso principalmente come crema per le mani e balsamo per le labbra. Rende le mani molto morbide. Provare per credere.

Buy dry coconut at the grocery store, a bag is $1.5 and you'll make a ton of butter out of it.
Acquistate un sacchetto di farina di cocco al supermercato, con meno di un euro potrete realizzare una quantità incredibile di burro.

Versate 3 cucchiai di farina di cocco in un pentolino

Put enough water to cover it but not too much and blend it well
Aggiungete acqua fino a coprire il burro, mescolate bene e lasciate sul fuoco per 5 minuti

Filtrate il cocco con un colino

Aiutatevi con un cucchiaio (o uno schiaccia patate) per spremerlo bene

Oppure avvolgetelo in un tovagliolo e strizzatelo

Once the cocounut is completely drained you can toss it, the coconut butter is all into the liquid.
Una volta terminata questa operazione potete buttare via la farina di cocco che avete spremuto perchè ormai è esausta. Tenete il liquido però e mettetelo in frigo.

Use a spoon to pick up the butter and put it into a jar. Put the coconut water into a spray bottle and spray it over the body onto damp skin after bath.
In frigo il burro si solidificherà e potrete asportarlo con un cucchiaio. L'acqua di cocco rimasta liquida si può invece mettere in uno spruzzino ed usarla come acqua idratante per il corpo vaporizzandola sulla pelle ancora bagnata dopo la doccia.

The coconut body butter will last 2 weeks if you keep it into the fridge, 1 week otherwise. The coconut water will last 1 week into the fridge. That is why this recipe is for a small quantity of butter but you can adjust the quantities according to your needs.

Il burro ha una data di scadenza: durerà 2 settimane tenendolo in frigo altrimenti una settimana. L'acqua di cocco durerà una settimana. Essendo un cosmetico organico deperisce più rapidamente di quelli con i conservanti, ecco perchè le quantità suggerite nella ricetta sono piccole. Marni for H&M on Vogue Russia

Another H&M designer collaboration wll hit the stores on 8th of March. It's the turn of Marni a sophisticated luxury italian brand. H&M abandons the big names of the fashion industry known by the masses and chooses an intellectual fashion house. We could say that H&M goes radical chic in fact it also picks Sofia Coppola to direct the tv commercial. Marni is known for prints and patterns with a vintage feel and for big statement jewels. The collection designed for H&M has Marni written all over it. It's tribal, vintage and also bohemian and bauhaus. The full lookbook has been disclosed only a few days ago.

Now let's get back to today's diy project. I think that jewelry is the best part of this Marni collection. Every piece looks like a 70's jewel and it's either in wood or in plastic. The plastic leaves necklace you see above are my favorites. I can make a similar one with just a lighter and an empty bottle. See how I made it.

Marni è conosciuto per le sue stampe dal sapore vintage e i grandi gioielli e la collezione disegnata per H&M rispetta il dna della maison. Ma torniamo alla collana diy di oggi. A mio parere i gioielli sono la parte migliore di questa collaborazione. Sono tutti molto vistosi in legno o in plastica, in particolare la collana in foglie arancioni qui in alto è la mia preferita. Possiamo realizzarne una simile con una bottiglia in plastica e un accendino. Vediamo come.

Cut out a leaf shape and get a lighter Ritagliate una foglia e prendete un accendino

Now this is the fun part: warm up the plastic leaf with the lighter. Keep it a little far from it. You'll see the plastic leaf bend and become tridimensional. It will look much more like a real leaf. These 3d leaves will add volume to the statament necklace.

Ecco la parte divertente: scaldate la foglia con l'accendino mantenendolo ad una certa distanza. Vedrete la plastica piegarsi e assumere un aspetto tridimensionale che servirà a dare volume alla collana. In più otterrete una foglia molto realistica.

I then added a couple of beads and then I finished the necklace with thread and crochet using the romanian macramè technique I used in the Stella MCartney diy dress.

Yesterday we talked about wavy hems and how they are trending this spring. I really appreciated how Stella MCartney incorporated curled hems in her spring 2012 collection. Today I'll show you how to diy a similar dress cutting out one you already own. I will also show you a crochet technique to make a cord I used to decorate the dress: it's called the romanian cord (or european macramè).

Start with a long sleeve dress. I made my dress from scratch because I had a very cute piece of fabric that was perfect for this project. The project is all about cutting out so a dress you already own will be fine.
Ready to start? Follow me after the jump.

I put my dress on my diy dress form (or just wear the dress). Highlighted in the pic you can see the part of the fabric you have to cut it out. Start cutting on the shoulders, 1 inch far from the neckline, cut off the cleavage untill the armhole. Also cut off one sleeve.

Now let's decorate it! Stella MCartney's dress is heavy embroidered along the neckline and along the hem. To imitate this embroidery I made a few meters of crochet cord (but you can also buy a cord or a cute trim). This cord is called romanian cord (or european macramè) and it's easy to do if you know the basics of crochet, click on this link to learn how to do the romanian cord.

Cominciate a dare un po' di movimento all'orlo della vostra gonna dando un'occhiata al tutorial per realizzare una gonna a portafoglio con l'orlo arrotondato.

Vuitton spring 2012 toe cap shoes

Shiny and metallic, two adjectives that define everything cool right now. Today I used again the mirror paper that was useful to make the Vuitton inspired metal peter pan collar to bring these shoes back on trend. I bought these shoes a few years ago along with a matching bag (with crocodile embossing my weakness) and apparently pastel colors were as trendy as today. I just cut off a piece of mirror paper and glued it onto the shoes. I think that pointy toes will give the better result on this project because the mirror paper is quite stiff and can't be bended on rounded surfaces. The toe cap is not the only detail that can be made. You can also cut different shapes and decorate the heel for example, unleash your creativity.

Luccicante e metallizzato: due aggettivi che ben si adattano alla moda primaverile illuminata di bagliori sci-fi.

Oggi ho utilizzato la carta a specchio (che già si era dimostrata utile per realizzare il colletto in metallo di Vuitton) per riportare nel presente delle scarpe acquistate qualche anno fa quando apparentemente i colori pastello erano di moda come oggi. Ho ritagliato un pezzetto di carta specchio e l'ho incollata sulla punta della scarpa. I migliori risultati li potrete ottenere con delle scarpe a punta poichè la carta specchio è abbastanza rigida e non può essere piegata su delle superfici rotonde. Ma la punta non è il solo dettaglio che potrete decorare. Ritagliando altre forme si possono decorare il tacco o il retro della scarpa. Insomma sbizzarritevi.

Even if I couldn't watch the Grammy awards yesterday, today I couldn't avoid to have a look at the red carpet. Alicia Keys bring's today diy inspiration. She sported a v-shaped gold metal collar. It's an unsual shape compared to the popular peter pan collars we've seen recently. This collar can easily be copied following the metal petern pan collar tutorial. Just cut the collar in a v shape!

I think Rihanna was the best dressed. I saw a lot of beautiful dresses like Paris Hilton's, Carrie Underwood's and Taylor Swift's but Rihanna looks simply stunning in her Armani dress and Louboutin pumps. On the other hand, I didn't like the Nicki Minaj look. I know her style is always loud but I think she missed the chance to wear a beautiful dress. That red cape was not flattering at all. Plus after Gaga meat dress it's very hard to "shock" the audience.

It's fresh and delicate, mint color is my latest fixation, I have to stop myself from buying everything in this color. This Acne sweater above is the coolest, it looks like a mix of two of my latest knitworks: the mint sweater and the rhombus pink one, I should have mixed the two together! Today DIY is about Valentine's day shoes. Grab your pair of black pumps, a brush, glue (diyer best friend) and a pot of glitters.

Dip the brush into the glue
Draw an heart shape on the back of your heels with the brush (trace the shape with chalk to be accurate)
Fill the shape with glue
pour the glitters
Let it dry
spray a sealant on your hearts

You can sew them on a cloth with needle and thread.

In order to copy her look take a plain corset or a corset tutu dress and decorate it with the rhistones above. Iron on rhinestuds are easier to handle: just place them wherever you want on the corset and press the hot iron on. If you have more time and patience choose flat back rhinestones and sew them on the corset ( you might be able to find them bigger than iron on ones). Big sequins can also be an option. I'm stuck indoor due an extraordinary snowfall and I thought it was just the perfect time to show you this clever technique to stretch shoes just using cold.
Have you ever bought shoes that were too tight hoping to find a way to make them fit (see impulse buy, love at first sight, insane low prices...etc etc)?
I bought these shoes a while back and never worn them because they're too tight and when I say too tight I really mean it. I tried to use a shoe stretcher spray but these needed to be stretched a lot so I tried to take advantage of the cold and now I can proudly say that these shoes fit!
If your shoes are really small repeat the process a couple of times.

Sono bloccata in casa a causa della straordinaria nevicata che nei giorni scorsi si è abbattuta sulla nostra penisola e ho pensato di condividere con voi questa tecnica per allargare le scarpe usando il ghiaccio. Se anche voi siete in casa senza far niente approfittate del freddo per allargare quel paio di scarpe che ci ha conquistato in negozio e non abbiamo potuto far a meno di comprare rassicurate dal consiglio del commesso che ci aveva assicurato che portandole un po' si sarebbero allargate (ma quando mai!).

La storia di queste scarpe è simile: amore a prima vista, saldo irrinunciabile, finite nell'armadio per dimenticare i senzi di colpa di una spesa inutile. Grazie a questa tecnica invece le scarpe sono state riabilitate con successo e potranno essere sfoggiate non appena potremo sfilarci gli stivaletti da neve. La tecnica è semplice: inserite una busta di plastica nelle scarpe, riempite la punta del piede d'acqua (o tutta la scarpa se oltre che stretta è anche corta), chiudete la busta con un elastico, infilate tutto in un'altra busta di plastica e inserite il tutto nel congelatore per una notte. La mattina seguente scongelate gli stivaletti e infilateli: rimarrete sorprese!

I've got loads of ideas for spring but the truth is still winter! I've knitted another wool sweater just in time for the snow (it's snowing like crazy around here)! I challenged myself with an intricate pattern and I also decorated the sleeves. Did you start knitting?

Peter Pan collars are an irresistible DIY. There's only one collar out of our reach, the king of collars, the Vuitton metal peter pan collar. Impossible to DIY. without using metal? No, I found a way to make one similar using some quite strange items : felt, a blow dryer and mirror paper.
Felt it's a very interesting material because it becomes moldable when exposed to heat and keeps the shape when cool. We'll use the blow dryer to shape the felt.
The mirror paper it's a self adhesive stiff paper that looks like mirror, we'll use it to give the metal effect to our collar.
So grab the blow dryer and let's see how I made the collar.

Men fashion is reducing the distance with women fashion and it's more colored than ever. Men looks are now bolder and they don't despise furs or high heels. La moda maschile è comunemente associata all'eleganza classica, un mondo in cui l'innovazione si esprime nella ricercatezza delle stoffe, all'attenzione nei dettagli, ma in cui c'è poco spazio per la sperimentazione o l'eccesso. Dopo aver visto le sfilate maschili scoprirete che la moda maschile è tutto fuorchè noiosa. La moda maschile riduce la distanza con la moda femminile utilizzando stoffe fino ad ora riservate solo al guardaroba femminile come pelliccie, piume e seta non escludendo neanche i tacchi alti.

Putting together some the items in my shopping wishist I noticed it came out a pretty aggressive combo! I think leather trousers are a must have for a girl who think at Kate Moss as a style icon. They're usually expensive so why don't get them at a discounted price? I finally found some gold and punk accessories at a competive price and a gold watch I like: it's simple and it has a vintage feel.

This winter we saw loafers becoming more and more popular. Until now when women wanted to take a break from heels, be comfortable but still be stylish they chose ballerinas. Loafers were considered comfortable and young (think at keds or vans) but very casual. A lot of time ago only the pope used to wear custom made loafers (and Michael Jackson), later on a few welthy entrepreneurs started to like them and wear them in formal events: it's loafers mania. Loafers have now arrived into women wardrobe. I judged them too casual at first but now I definitely like the rock versions you see above. What about you? Are you into loafers or not?

Essendo spesso costosi sono il perfetto acquisto da fare ai saldi. Da Asos ho trovato dei bracciali punk borchiati e l'orologio dorato : essenziale e dall'appeal vintage.

Quest'inverno abbiamo assistito all'ascesa del trend delle loafers. Prima del loro avvento, quando le donne scendevano dai tacchi, sceglievano di indossare le ballerine rimanendo eleganti e alla moda. Fino ad oggi le loafers erano un scarpa giovane e comoda (come le keds e le vans) ma sicuramente molto casual. Molto tempo fa erano conosciute come le scarpe del papa (e di Michael Jackson), il solo ad indossarle in eventi pubblici, poi alcuni imprenditori lo hanno imitato. Oggi le loafers sono arrivate nei guardaroba delle donne. Personalmente le ho giudicate troppo casual all'inizio mentre ora indosserei volentieri le varianti un po' rock illustrate qui in alto. Often associated with sportwear, track trousers are going to be a big fashion trend of spring 2012.
They're basically a pair of trousers with a colored band along the lateral seam of the trousers. This band can be used to add a hint of colour like Gucci did obtaining young and sporty trousers, or to add elegance like Cavalli did adding a gold band. Bands can be thin or wide. Using wide bands you can made a fab pair of color block trousers and if you use a darker color on the outside you'll obtain a smart slimming effect!
How can we make track trousers at home? The quickest way is to sew a narrow band (it can be gros grain for example) over the lateral seam of your trousers! This way you have a straight seam you can follow. If you want to make color block trousers you can paint the outside of the trousers (with fabric colors) or have a look at Inspiration&Realisation diy project in which Donatella cleverly used two pair of trousers to make one!

Proposti da molti stilisti, essi diventano grintosi se la striscia è in un colore energetico come l'arancione come nella proposta di Gucci o eleganti con la striscia è dorata come ci mostra Cavalli. La striscia si allarga nelle proposte di C'N'C Costume National e il pantalone diventa colorblock. Acquistate i pantaloni in cui il colore più scuro è all'esterno, il contrasto delle tonalità infatti vi regalerà un effetto snellente. Come replicare in casa il look track trousers? Il modo più semplice è quello di cucire una striscia di gros grain nel colore da voi scelto sulla cucitura laterale del pantalone, la cucitura esistente vi aiuterà anche ad andar dritto! During the last few years snapping pics seems to became a second nature for all of us. A camera became like a continuation of our bodies: we see something we like, we grab our phone and we snap. We don't even think that we're carring a camera because it's embedded in our tiny phone we hold in our (often too tiny) bag. We make a ton of pics, sometimes useless ones but it's ok because the result is that we have a ton of memories.
Until now I always found space in my bag to carry my compact camera. Now I moved to a reflex (I hope you are appreciating the difference around here) and dimensions tenfold. It does make beautiful pictures to a whole new level but a reflex is not something that can be carried around easily, plus is delicate so I started searching for a appropriate camera case. What I found out at first were black, serious (boring) cases or giant bags. Accessories like these scream out loud: we've been designed for men with just the necessary, nothing fancy. Someone should tell to those that make cases that women are into photography too. Proenza Schouler might be aware of this problem because this year designed some stylish camera bags (the green one is my favorite, it has a vintage feel). I was unable to find their price because they aren't yet available to purchase. I then found found some cute and funky cases around the internet that you can shop on etsy, aren't those in felt totally adorable?

Negli ultimi anni fotografare di tutto è diventata quasi una seconda natura per tutti noi. Una fotocamera è una continuazione del nostro braccio. Vediamo qualcosa che ci piace, prendiamo in mano il telefono e la immortaliamo. Quasi non ci rendiamo conto di avere in mano una fotocamera perchè è incastonata nel nostro piccolo cellulare. Facciamo migliaia di foto, molte delle quali inutili ma va bene perchè il risultato è avere tanti ricordi.

Fino ad oggi ho sempre trovato lo spazio nella borsetta per la mia fotocamera compatta. Oggi sono passata ad una reflex (spero che si noti la differenza qui sul blog) dalle dimensioni molto più ingombranti. Una reflex scatta indubbiamente foto migliori ma è difficile da trasportare e più delicata di una compatta quindi ho cominciato a cercare una custodia appropriata. All'inizio ho trovato solo di quegli accessori che gridano: siamo stati progettati per gli uomini con solo il necessario, niente di decorativo; in altre parole solo seriose (noiose) custodie nere o borse giganti. Ai produttori di custodie dico: guardate che anche le donne sono appassionate di fotografia! Proenza Schouler deve essersene accorta e ha presentato nell'ultima sfilata delle borsette/custodie davvero stilose (la mia preferita è quella dal feel vintage,quella verde e bianca). Purtroppo non so dirvi il prezzo visto che apparentemente non sono ancora in vendita. Cercando ancora ho trovato altre custodie, più funky e dal sapore hand-made che potrete acquistare su etsy, non sono adorabili quelle in feltro?

Yesterday I decided to pair my new DIY jumper with a leopard skirt and then to play with pastel colors with accessories. I got my new bracelets made of python skin in Florence, a city that it's like leather goods heaven. If you've been there at least once you'll know that the city streets are filled with stores that sell beautiful and colored leather goods and actually thinking at Florence the smell of leather is one thing you'll remember. Every time I go there I buy a small leather accessory, last time I bought a little wallet, this time these three bracelets.

During these last few days I also added a pair of shoes to my collection, a pair of python boots I found on sale at Zara. I mentally quickly reviewed my rules for sales shopping and since python can't be called basic (rule n°3) and definitely I needed them (see how flexible is rule n°1?) I decided to get them!
These Zara boots were in my winter shoepping list and now they sit proudly in my wardrobe along with the diy- ed miu miu glittered pumps.

Negli ultimi giorni sono riuscita ad aggiungere un altro paio di scarpe alla mia collezione: un paio di stivaletti con stampa pitone di Zara. Visto che il pitone non rientra nei capi basic (regola n°3) e avendo un disperato bisogno di animalier nel mio guardaroba (visto com'è flessibile la regola n°1?) gli stivaletti hanno brillantemente superato i requisiti richiesti dalle mie regole per i saldi e quindi ora fanno bella mostra di sè nel mio armadio.

This winter I'm loving mohair and other fluffy yarns to make nice and soft jumpers. Above you can see some of the jumpers I just knitted. Why you should learn to knit? I'll give you at least three reasons:

knitting your own jumper means that you can design it from scratch: choose the color, the style, the decorations. For example I'm really into pastel colours right now and mint in particular.
knitting is like riding a bicycle, once you learn it you can't forget it
it's easier than it seems.

Here's a few steps that will take you from 0 to make your jumper.

Get your tools It all starts with a ball of wool and knitting needles. Knitting needles come in different sizes. Choose a yarn (not too thin at first), you'll find on its wrapper the dimensions of the needles required.
Learn the basics: Knit and purl stitch is everything you need to know. The easiest way to learn is to see someone doing it so the answer is You Tube! Click to learn how to knit and how to purl stitch.

Start easy: knit a scarf the best project to start with is a scarf (It's just a long rectangle!) and you'll kill two birds with one stone: you'll learn the technique and you'll make a terrific handmade Valentine's day gift for your boyfriend.
How to obtain a plain classic knit (also called Stocking Stitch) Row 1: knit all stitches; Row 2: purl all stitches and then repeat.
Now Get the pattern In order to make a jumper you need a pattern. There are many free patterns around that can fit your needs. Be sure to have the same size of needles indicated in that specific pattern so your jumper will fit right. Otherwise you can end up with a jumper that is too big or too small.
Make the sweater. Your sweater will have 4 pieces: the front, the back and the sleeves.
Put it all together When all the pieces are ready it's time to sew them together! First sew the front and the back together then sew the sleeves.

Quest'inverno ho scelto lane mohair e altri filati "pelosi" per realizzare soffici maglioni (li potete vedere in queste foto). Ci sono almeno tre ragioni per imparare a lavorare a maglia:

realizzare i vostri maglioni vi permetterà di sceglierne colore e stile.
lavorare a maglia è come andare in bicicletta: una volta che avete imparato non potete dimenticarlo
è più facile di quello che sembra.

Ecco alcuni step che vi aiuteranno a realizzare il vostro primo maglione

Gli strumenti per iniziare: Tutto comincia con un gomitolo di lana e da un paio di ferri. I ferri sono disponibili in diverse misure. Scegliete la lana (non troppo sottile per cominciare); troverete sulla confezione la dimensione dei ferri indicata per la sua lavorazione.
Imparate i punti base: Dritto e rovescio è tutto quello che dovete sapere. Il modo più semplice di apprendere è osservare qualcuno lavorare a maglia quindi la risposta più ovvia è You Tube. Cliccate per imparare il dritto e il rovescio.

Cominciate con un progetto facile e realizzate una sciarpa: la sciarpa è perfetta per cominciare, è un rettangolo e vi permetterà di prendere due piccioni con una fava: imparerete bene i punti base e realizzerete un perfetto regalo di S. Valentino per il vostro boyfriend.
Come si realizza la trama classica: Alternate un ferro a punto dritto con uno a punto rovescio.
Prendete un modello Per realizzare un maglione avrete bisogno di un modello. Online potrete trovare alcuni schemi gratuiti. Quando leggete un modello fate attenzione ad utilizzare i ferri della stessa dimensione indicata in modo da ottenere un maglione della giusta dimensione. Utilizzando ferri di dimensione diversa rischierete di ottenere un maglione troppo grande o troppo piccolo.
Ora realizzate il maglione. Il vostro maglione sarà composto da 4 pezzi diversi: il davanti, il dietro più le maniche.
Cucite tutto insieme Quando i diversi pezzi sono pronti li dovrete cucire insieme. Cucite il davanti con il dietro e poi cucite le maniche.
Ecco un modello semplice da cui partire per realizzare un maglione. Potrete trovare questo e altri modelli sul sito Lion Brand Yarn (cliccate sulle immagini per ingrandirle) altrimenti vi basterà cercare in edicola riviste specializzate sulla maglia.

Wrap sequin skirt with rounded hem DIY

The sequin fabric I used to make the Peter Pan collar was just too cute and I had to use it again so I made this sequin wrap skirt with a rounded hem. Ho usato la stessa stoffa in paillettes del colletto Peter Pan per realizzare questa gonna a portafoglio con l'orlo arrotondato. Vediamo come l'ho realizzata e se amate indossare le pailettes cliccate per leggere i miei consigli su come indossare le paillettes.

You'll need a rectangle piece of fabric "skirt lenght" tall and "1,5 x hip width" wide.
Vi servirà un rettangolo di stoffa alto quanto la lunghezza della gonna e largo 1,5 volte la larghezza fianchi.

A fabric pen will be your chalk and you're ready to write your motto on your "blackboard tee". Otherwise you can make a real blackboard tee with a fabric called chalk cloth that is a pliable fabric/vinyl where you can write on it with real chalk, erase and write again a message according to your mood of the day.

5 tips to decide what to buy at sales

In the fashion calendar, the winter season is over. This means that jumpers and coats will be available to buy at a reduced price. Good news for us since our calendar says winter is just started and will have still plenty of time to wear our cosy winter clothes.
Sales can get you drunk sometimes because there are too many pretty things we would like to buy but only a few we can take home with our budget (no matter how big the budget if you have an expensive taste!). How can we make a choice? How do we decide what to buy and what not to buy?

Today I would like to share with you some of my rules in matter of sales.

Buy what you need have a look at your wadrobe and list what you think are the missing pieces (they can be jumpers or patterns or a top to match a previous purchase) then take the list with you and look for them. Ok this is mom's rules for sales. While it seems to make the shopping experience less fun this rule helps you to keep focused on the target. Shopping it's an emotional experience: we see something we like and we instantly feel we have to have it so before you buy the latest thing you fell for try to remember your primary needs. I would rewrite the rule this way: buy what you need first then buy the rest! (sorry mom).
Know your territory Visit the stores near you (and your favorite online shops) before the sales starting date, try on what you like and find your size when there's no rush; mentally record the price. When sales starts you can buy your chosen items quickly avoiding changing rooms queues and other stress.
Don't buy black buy bold in other words don't buy basics in high street shops. We don't wear every day feathered skirts or mongolian coats or fringed dresses so we may have find them too pricey at the beginning of the season. Now we can add them to our collection at a reduced (guilt free) price.
Go for classic designer pieces Some pieces of wardrobe are timeless see a Burberry trench or a camel Max Mara coat, they will never get out of fashion (and won't look different next season) so if you want to own a designer piece skip the seasonal trend and buy classics (good for you if you can afford both!) at a reduced price.
Sales are not the best time to experiment new looks. If you're willing to change your style, to get out of your comfort zone and try new looks avoid doing it during sales. Sales means quick shopping with often little time to think twice. You may end up buying something that you're not going to wear.

Secondo il calendario della moda, la stagione invernale è conclusa. Ciò significa che cappotti e maglioni potranno essere acquistati ad un prezzo ridotto. Buon per noi visto che nel nostro calendario l'inverno è di fatto appena entrato e potremo sfoggiare i capi invernali ancora per qualche mese.

I saldi però possono essere come una grande ubriacatura e potremmo finire per comprare dei capi che poi non indosseremo. La lista dei desideri è spesso più lunga di quanto ci consenta il nostro budget (e non importa quanto sia grande il budget se avete gusti costosi). Come fare una scelta allora? Come decidere cosa comprare e cosa non comprare?

Ecco alcuni suggerimenti da tenere a mente mentre sarete presi dalla foga dell'acquisto

Comprate quello che vi serve. Passate in rassegna il vostro guardaroba e fate una lista dei capi che secondo voi mancano (maglioni? stampe? un top da abbinare ad un precedente acquisto?); portate con voi la lista e cercate i capi ai saldi. Anche se questo può sembrare un suggerimento scontato, vi aiuterà a tenere a mente i vostri obiettivi. Lo shopping è anche un'esperienza emotiva: vediamo qualcosa che ci piace e avvertiamo la necessità di possederla, quindi prima di comprare l'ultima cosa che avete visto e di cui vi siete innammorate ricordatevi delle vostre necessità primarie. Riscriverei la regola così: comprate prima ciò che vi serve poi comprate il resto!
Conoscete il vostro territorio Fate un giro nei negozi (e nei vostri shop online preferiti), provate i capi che vi piacciono con calma quando non c'è ressa. Quando i saldi cominceranno potrete acquistare velocemente i capi che avete pre-approvato evitando lo stress delle code ai camerini.
Non comprate i capi basici nelle catene low cost. Non indossiamo tutti i giorni capi decorati con perline o con piume per questo ci sono sembrati troppo costosi ad inizio stagione. Questo è il momento di acquistarli ad un prezzo ridotto.
Acquistate capi classici firmati Alcuni capi non passano mai di moda (e non saranno molto diversi la prossima stagione), pensate ad un trench Burberry o ad un cappotto Max Mara. Se volete possedere un capo firmato comprate i classici ad un prezzo ridotto.
Non sperimentate nuovi look durante i saldi Volete cambiare look? Osare uno stile che non avete mai provato? Evitate di sperimentarlo durante i saldi. Spesso lo shopping dei saldi è veloce ed impulsivo: avrete poco tempo per decidere se quello stile vi si addice o no e rischierete di acquistare qualcosa che non indosserete.

Here we are, this is the first post of 2012 and it's a DIY tutorial, I hope you'll enjoy it! A while back I was drawn to jewelry inspired by nature: gold leaves and branches. Today I was lucky enought to find some jewel findings with the shape of leaves so I could make my dream necklace and earrings. You can them on ebay browsing keywords like leaf charms or leaf findings.

Today I'll show you how to make your own jump rings out of metallic wire so you can untick them from your shopping list and save some cash.

After making your jump rings use them to connect your findings to the chain and your findings to earrings hooks, add a snap hook to close the necklace.

Cominciamo il 2012 con un tutorial su come realizzare una nuova parure. Qualche tempo fa ero stata attratta da dei gioielli ispirati alla natura costituiti da foglie e rami dorati. La parure prende ispirazione da quei gioielli ed è stata realizzata con dei charms a forma di foglia. Potrete trovarne di simili su ebay cercando parole chiavi come leaf charms o leaf findings. Oggi vi mostrerò come realizzare gli anellini dorati che vengono utilizzati per connettere due elementi di una collana; potrete così realizzarli in casa rismarmiando i soldi dell'acquisto.

Dopo aver realizzato i vostri anellini utilizzateli per connettere i ciondoli alla catenella e ai ganci per gli orecchini; terminate la collana aggiungendo un moschettone per la chiusura.

If you tried to forget about them i'll tell you: the trend of the fluffy shoes is here to stay; in fact during the latest Milano fashion week (read my report of Milano fashion week here) a sassy, fluffy detail appeared again on shoes in the Antonio Marras spring 2012 collection. Feathers are not suitable for daily wear but they can make special a pair of shoes for a evening (maybe new year's eve?), so what if they were detachable? In this fashion diy you'll see how to create a detachable feather clip decoration that can be added on top of your shoes. Since it is detachable it can decorate wedding shoes, an headband, it can be used as a brooch, as a ring, you can pin it wherever you like! You can give a new look to your shoes in minutes! What do you think of the result?

Se pensavate che fosse un trend da archiviare vi informo che le scarpe "pelose" sono comparse nelle ultime sfilate di Milano nella collezione di Antonio Marras. Tutte concordiamo siano molto sceniche e magari poco adatte ad essere indossate tutti i giorni, magari solo per una serata speciale (magari proprio Capodanno?). E se fossero rimuovibili? Nel fai-da-te di oggi vi mostrerò come realizzare una decorazione in piume rimuovibile che può essere inserita sulle scarpe. Even if trainers are not my favorite kind of shoes I have to say these got my attention with their metallic silver color, the melted rubber and cut out details. They're part of a Puma capsule collection designed by the japanese designer Mihara Yasuhiro.

A while back Ugg Australia contacted me to join their DIY contest :Art and soles and design a pair of Uggs so this is my entry. It's a black boot decorated with a crocodile quilted pattern. I chose the crocodile pattern because exotic leathers are associated with luxury and my aim was to design a boot that could be stylish with personality. I wanted to make them special with sophisticated details.

Qualche tempo fa Ugg Australia mi ha contattato per invitarmi a partecipare al loro DIY contest e a disegnare un paio dei famosi stivaletti così ecco la mia proposta. E' una stivaletto nero decorato con una trapuntatura che disegna una stampa coccodrillo. Ho scelto il coccodrillo perchè le pelli esotiche sono associate all'idea di lusso ed esclusività. Il mio obiettivo era quello di disegnare uno stivaletto elegante ma con personalità impreziosito da dettagli sofisticati. Vi piacciono? Li indossereste?
